Banking Assistants (Trainees)
Citizens of Sri Lanka who possess the following qualifications are eligible to apply for the above post:

1. Eligibility Criteria

1.1 Required Educational Qualifications:
(a)

  • Passed six (06) subjects in G.C.E. O/L at one sitting with at least five (05) “B” passes including Mathematics & main Language (Sinhala or Tamil), and a “C” pass for English Language.

(b)

  • G.C.E. A/L with at least three (03) “B” passes in main subjects (excluding General English) in any stream at one sitting.

1.2 Age:

  • Not less than 18 years and not more than 22 years of age as at 23.05.2025.
  • Applicants whose Date of Birth falls between 24.05.2003 and 23.05.2007 (including the said dates) will be eligible to apply for this position.

2. Selection Procedure

Through a competitive examination conducted by the Department of Examinations, Sri Lanka, and one or more interviews.
The Competitive Examination will consist of the following question papers:

  • (i) General Intelligence (100 Marks) – 1 hour
  • (ii) Numerical Skills (100 Marks) – 1 hour
  • (iii) Comprehension (100 Marks) – 1 hour

Examination will be conducted in Sinhala, English, and Tamil mediums.
The language preference selected in the online application form will not be permitted to change subsequently under any circumstance.

3. Application Procedure

  • Applications available online at the Department of Examinations, Sri Lanka (www.doenets.lk) under “Our Services” and “Online Applications – Recruitment Exams.”
  • Only online submissions are accepted.
  • Portal accessible from 9:00 a.m. on 23.04.2025 to 9:00 p.m. on 23.05.2025.
  • Applicants must follow the instructions carefully; incomplete applications will be rejected without notice.

Note:
Applicants bear all responsibility for delays in application submission.

3.1 Examination Centres:

  • Conducted at designated Examination Centres mentioned in the application form.
  • No changes to centres allowed after submission.
  • Identity must be verified at the examination hall with:
    • (i) National Identity Card
    • (ii) Valid Passport
    • (iii) Valid Sri Lankan Driving License

Candidates must enter with face and ears uncovered for verification.

3.2 Examination Fees:

  • Rs. 600/-
  • Payment through:
    • (i) Bank debit cards with internet facility
    • (ii) Online banking method of Bank of Ceylon
    • (iii) Any branch of the Bank of Ceylon

Note:

  • Instructions on payment published on the Department of Examinations’ website.
  • No refund or transfer of fee under any circumstance.

3.3 Issuance of Admission Cards:

  • Issued online after the deadline to eligible candidates.
  • Notification through Department of Examinations website and SMS.
  • If not received, inquiries must be directed to the Institutional Examinations Organization Branch.
  • Admission card issuance does not guarantee eligibility for the examination or post.

3.4 Conduct of Examination and Release of Results:

  • Bound by the rules and regulations of the Commissioner General of Examinations.

4. Terms & Conditions Relating to the Post

  • Training Period: 2 years with a fixed allowance of Rs. 65,000 per month.
  • After training, eligible for permanent absorption as Associate Management Assistant in MAC Grade I (1).
  • Attractive salary, annual special payment, EPF & ETF contributions, medical benefits, pension benefits, training opportunities.
  • Required to serve anywhere in Sri Lanka as directed.

5. Other Conditions

  • Applicants without required qualifications by the closing date will be rejected.
  • Failure to provide original documents at the interview results in disqualification.
  • Any form of canvassing leads to disqualification.
  • CBSL reserves the right to fill, postpone, or cancel recruitment.
  • In case of language discrepancies, the Sinhala version prevails.
